Tamashii Nation Limited, Saint Seiya Myth Cloth Argol Perseus Specter Review

This figures first release was a disaster for the saint seiya community as most people were expecting a very high quality figure when the first figure came out in 2010.  After Bandai has announced the release of this actual figure, most people were skeptical of the fact that Bandai does only repaint and never fixes the problems of the figures.  Will Bandai live to the reputation of not listening to the customers yet again?  Let’s find out today!

The box is a standard hades box which we have not seen in a while, as this is a Tamashii Nation exclusive, the figure does not have an open middle section as most myth cloth do.  The box is a color purple with black and has the figure on the front with the object mode behind that picture. On the side we see the medusa shield and the specter letters for the figure.  On the back we can see the object mode and many poses for the figure.

When you open the box, the figure has 3 busters.  It has two main ones, on buster number 1, it has the figure itself, parts of the armor, and the hands.  Buster number 2, it has the skeleton of the object mode and some other parts of the armor, and buster number 3, it has 2 new faces for the old figure, and an additional face for the figure we have today.

As I build the object mode, the figure felt the same when I was building it; it had the same issues as the object mode had before, as parts of the skirt were not fitting with each other but at the same time, it was a bit different in the way the parts were put on the figure.  Overall the object mode was a very nice and easy experience with a total of around 10 minutes to make.

Now as we build the figure, first thing I notice was the improved face.  The face was very well made and looked very different as the first release.  Now these faces look like the character of the anime and do not have a blank stare as the other one.  The detail on the hair was perfection and I think this time they fixed the problem with the face.  They give you remodeled faces for the old model which is good, but they do not give you other parts to fix the many problems it has with the old version.  The armor feels solid and the color purple with black matches that figure perfectly.  I have to say from the 2 releases, this release was the best one for me, as it feels more complete than the first one.  And now the major part of the figure is the ankles of the figure.

The ankles are very solid and don’t have the balance issue it had on the first release, the figure can even stand on itself with no problem.  I am very happy that I’m able to pose the figure with no problems what so ever.  The figure is composed of 80 percent metal with the exception of the face mask, and the waist, the figure is a great addition to the specter section of the hades chapter.

So is it worth buying?  I give it a solid 10, this is what the figure had to be in the first place and Bandai did it right this time.  It’s a sad reality that Bandai did not execute this figure like this 2 years ago but I’m satisfied with this figure.

Saint Seiya Myth Cloth Mermaid Thetis Review

Now that the EX line has taken off, we have seen many changes on the old saint seiya line for better or for worst.  The main concentration of characters have moved to the EX line and now we are getting different characters on the old line which is good.  But how much time and effort have they put on the figures that are not there main line anymore?  We have seen many good figures come out in the last year with no complaints what so ever, but going to the end of the 2013 era, we have to wait and see if Bandai will keep both lines the same level.  Today we are going to review the last figure of the 2012 year and it’s Mermaid Thetis.

The box is a marine green color signifying that this is part of the Poseidon saga.  We have not seen these boxes in a long time, with the exception of the re-release of Poseidon late last year.  We can see the figure on the front and with the object mode on the back.  On the side we have the Tamashii nation logo and the Bandai Logo as well.  Just to mention this is a HK edition.  The side of the box it says saint cloth myth, and on the bottom it says mermaid scale.  On the back of the box we have a typical layout of the figure in many poses, and the figure with different faces.  We also see the object and many other things.  The bottom has the usual things like warnings and hazards, but because this is an Asian version, we have holographic stickers as well.

As you open and take out the busters, it’s a standard layout that we expect from a saint cloth myth figure.  On the left side we have the figure itself with most of her armor, and on the right side we have the skeleton of the object mode and some parts of accessories.  When we look at the manual it looks very simple enough, the figure does not have massive or very big armor so it should not be a problem, the object mode construction looks simple enough but we have to wait and see for the results.

After attempting to make the object mode, I have to say that it is the worst object mode I have built in a long time.  The parts are not stable and the tail of the mermaid is very hard to make, it took me around 2 hours to complete the objective and it’s very hard to do.  One thing that you have to note is that the parts are not well explained how to make them and the tail you have to figure out on your own to see what best fits.  Do yourself a favor and if you are building the object mode to assemble the legs first, then attach the tail, as this is the fastest way to build it.  One thing you have to note is that the leg parts are made of plastic and metal.  The pointy part of the leg is plastic and the rest is metal.  Keep this in mind because they have to separate to make the object mode and when you separate things on a myth cloth that should be a solid piece, it’s not good for business.

Now because of the object mode, the armor has a few defects that happened because of the object mode build.  First I have to say that the figure looks like a goddess, and it’s a great piece of art.  The faces and the armor look great and the colors are true to the animation.  I cannot complain that I did not get a great figure, aesthetic wise, but when it comes to build, it’s another story.  First one thing that I did like was the engineering of the face.  They used elements from the myth cloth EX line to make the face and I have to say it came out fantastic.  The mechanisms to make the figure a simple and very easy to change the faces which are always a good thing.

But the main problem we have with her is that the leg guards on top of the leg don’t stay in place, and then we move to the bottom part of the legs.  The bottom part of the leg is composed of 3 parts, the top part which is the pointy part, the middle, and the bottom.  The bottom and the top are made of plastic, and the middle is made of metal.  The top part you have to remove to make the object mode which is fine, but when you try to put it on the figure, the top part is so loose that every time you want to move her, the parts falls out of place.  The posing of the figure is horrible and you really don’t have to touch it for you to have a chance not to dislocate the part.  What is wrong with the part is that it does not have a clicking mechanism like the waist for it to stay on the leg, I think they tried to make the object mode as good as possible,

and messing up the figure in the process.  Overall the building of the figure is a disaster and something you have to be careful of, but the figure is great in looks.  The helmet is plastic, the shoulders and chest are metal, the bottoms are plastic, arms are plastic and metal, and the legs I have given you the layout with the feet always metal.

Overall I have to say I was very disappointed with the figure, but I have to give the figure 2 grades which I have never done before.  In looks, the figure gets a solid 10.  It’s a very great figure in many ways and it will look great on your collection.  On built, I have to say 7 out of 10.  The object mode is horrible and the legs need work, as a recommendation, have super glue ready.  The build was one of the worst I have done in a while and I’m not looking forward to cleaning the figure.

Saint Cloth Crown Poseidon Review

One of the most popular gods of the saint seiya series is the god of the sea, Poseidon.  His release has been waited for over a year and it’s a very popular character, but many people have their worries about this figure as the major disappointment of last year’s crown Series of Sagittarius Seiya.  But I think most people are going to be pleasantly surprised when they see the crown figure with their own eyes.  Let’s get started.

The box is a standard crown box as last year’s figure.  It has a pop out cardboard and to cover 4 sides of the box and the texture of the cardboard has the figure of Poseidon in the front with a nice feel to it.  This piece of the box is white and it’s very colorful.  The box itself is around 22 inches high and around 12 inches in length.  Taking off the cover is a box with a reflection kind of material with a deep marine blue to it.  On the reflection part you can see the marine zodiac and also pictures in black about the figure.  Overall this box is as spectacular as the box of Pegasus seiya crown of last year.

Opening the box you see 3 compartments as well with this figure.  Compartment number one has most of the parts of the figure and some hands and a couple of faces.
Compartment 2, has a lot of parts for the thrown, as this figure comes with a thrown itself to be displayed with the figure.
On compartment 3, we have parts for the display mode of the object mode; it’s like a huge stand and looks very nice.
Also in this compartment, you have the skeleton of the object mode and many parts for the display thrown and the chair thrown it.  Overall the compartments are the same as last year’s so this part was not very shocking for the public.
Now as we build the object mode, the figure or the object mode is very similar to the human build of Poseidon and vas very fast to build.
Things that I did notice right away with this release it more metal to the figure, and not a lot of plastic.  Sure it still has some mechanisms of last year’s figure but it’s not as bad as last year.  The object mode is a sight to see and a very beautiful addition.  Some people are even tempted to buy 2 figures because the object mode itself is as beautiful as the figure itself.

Now for the main course of this review; the figure was as easy to build as the object mode and took around the same time.  The color of the cloth looks fantastic and has a nice copper gold feel to it that most marine warriors have.  The figure feels solid and has a 50 to 50 percent of metal and plastic, which is a good balance compared to last year’s figure.

The faces of the figure look great and do not feel bad made in any way.  The hair has movable tails on the side for them to move with the cloth which is an added bonus to me.  Overall this figure is far better than the actual figure of last year.
There was only one bad part about this figure.  When you try to sit him down on the thrown, the parts of the legs want to fall off from the figure so you have to be very careful with this kind of position.  It the last of my worries as most people will display him standing up, or in his object mode.  The thrown and the display thrown for the object mode are a very solid addition to the figure.  As you will see in some pictures, they look fantastic as they should.

Overall the figure gets a solid 10 from me, it a better improvement from last years and very well made figure.  You can tell that they were trying to improve the quality of the figure and the figure for a 12 inch scale looks fantastic.  I would recommend to buy this figure right away if you are able to.
