Saint Seiya Myth Cloth EX Aries Mu Review

We have gotten 3 EX figures now in this new saint seiya line and they have not failed to disappoint, but now the third in these series is Aries Mu.  Many people have been wondering if this figure is going to be as good as the myth cloth with the appendix, so we are going to find that out today.

First we look at the box and the first thing you are going to notice is that the box is very small compared to the other myth cloth boxes that we had before.  This box in with on the side is about 1 to 1 ½ inches smaller than the other boxes, so that’s something you have to look at and admire from Bandai that they are putting consideration on box size as some of us collectors don’t have that much space.  The box is a standard solid box with a plastic cover like the other myth cloths.  In the front you see a shot of the figure and his star constellation, on one side they give you the figure photo with an action pose, and on the other side they give you a complete shot of the object mode.  On the back they give you all the warnings and hazards with some shots of the figure with different faces and some poses.  After you take off this plastic cover, the box is a solid gold that resembles the Pandora’s Box of Aries.  With the Aries symbol on the front and the rest of the box like Pandora’s markings, it’s a very nice touch by Bandai.

As we open the box we notice there are 3 buster plates on this figure.  Plate number 1 has the figure it self and around 4 pairs of hands with some armor parts.  Plate number 2 has the skeleton of the object mode and the rest of the cloth armor.  And plate number 3 has 3 hairs and 4 extra faces with the PVC cape it comes with the figure.

Now as I build the object mode I felt that the object mode did feel a little weird in proportions and in overall feel.  For some reason the object mode was too skinny in some areas and some areas he was to wide.  But overall the figures object mode looks great and because of this, it’s a great improvement to the old myth cloth object mode.

Going on the figures parts, almost all the parts of this figure are die cast metal.  The only plastic parts that we have are the 2 pairs of horns, and the helmet, the rest is die cast metal which for the price you are paying, it’s a very nice touch.  One thing I did have a problem is that the instructions do not explain the placement of the horns.  As I was looking at the horns of my old myth cloth, I saw the horns were very punting up, assuming this I put the horns in the wrong position and they do not go this way.  The horns have to look natural on top of the chest and not on the side as I had them.  Another major concern is that the shoulders were separated from the actual chest which left a big space in the middle of the shoulder.  Is was very unfortunate and very frustrating as you can see the skinny body of the figure and the figure does not look that great on the shoulders are like that.  The shoulders can be pushed for the armor can cover it, but when you are putting this figure on some poses you have to leave the shoulders popped out, and that is very odd look for the figure.  Still the figures aesthetic looks great.  It has great face sculptures and every face you want to play around with looks great.  It has great flexibility and great posing; it’s just a shame that the shoulders were not as great as other myth cloth EX figures.  I’m my perspective I see this as Aries shoulders are very small compared to the wide shoulder armor of Gemini and Leo.  In my opinion they should have made the shoulders a bit bigger to make up for this very bad look on that area.

The figure is great, and it’s a great improvement to the old myth cloth.  Even though it has its defects in some areas the figure is a definite buy for me and it’s a great addition to your collection.  If you can look pass the fact of the shoulder, you will enjoy your experience of the figure itself.  On the review/blog you will see many picture of the figure and see for yourself if I’m correct.  Please leave your comments and tell us what you think of this figure.  This figure gets a 9/10 for me.

Hope you enjoy the review and remember…
GO OUT AND BUY IT!!!
