New collectors from the saint seiya series know the new animated series the Saint Seiya lost canvas series. This series is relatively short compared to the old saint seiya series, but it did have its good points. Because of these series, a lot of people were willing to bet that the new lost canvas line was going to make myth cloth for that series as well. Little that they know the series myth cloth line didn’t sell well, and Bandai put the project to a halt. The new Lost Canvas myth cloths were not bad but they were not popular with the old school audience at the time. You can still see a lot of Lost Canvas myth cloth in the market. But what made them so bad? Was it just the series or was it the figure itself? We will find out today!

As you see the box you notice it is a book style kind of package and it has the figure itself on the front and the animated form as well. It has the Lost Canvas logo on the corner and the Bandai logo on the other. On the side of the box you see it says “Saint Cloth Myth” and on the bottom it says “Pegasus Cloth” the same as the old Pegasus packages and even with the same zodiac symbol. On the back of the box we see the figure has many action poses and the figure showing him with and without the helmet. You also see pictures of the object mode. So far mostly everything looks the same but as you open the package you see it’s a standard 2 sided window box. The difference is on the trim, it has more classy designs and it says on the top bronze saint and on the bottom it says Tenma.

Looking at the inside of the package it has the same layout as the old figures; it has the figure itself and most of the cloth parts on the left side, and the skeleton form of the object mode on the right side. The manual is very easy to follow and very easy to understand. As you build the object mode, you can see that this object mode was built very different from the rest. Most of the skeleton of the object mode is made up of solid pieces and not a lot of the cloth is used to make up the structure. The actual color of the cloth is a dark light blue if that makes any sense. You just have to see the pictures to see the color I’m talking about. Also the addition of a stand for the actual object mode is quite impressive, cause without that stand this object mode would be falling every five minutes.

Now as the figure goes, this figure is fantastic. They used a new kind of body to represent the anime and the figure looks good on it. The cloth fits great and it’s very tight to the body. The face and hair sculpt are great and his wild hair is one of the main attraction for this figure. This figure has the head piece plastic, shoulders, chest, arms , and all the leg parts die cast metal. The belt is composed of die cast and plastic, and a middle part on the chest is plastic as well. But as fantastic as I think this figure is, it does have major flaws. The figure has 2 faces, and one looks like his surprised and it does not look like he is screaming. This is a major no no in the industry. Make him look like you mean too and don’t make him look surprised. Second, the figure looks like a girl with the head piece and exchangeable helmet pieces. This maybe due to the fact that the figure itself was looking kind of feminine on the anime but this does not look good for the figure. And third, the figures skirt parts are very fragile, and they can snap easily. This skits first of all were hard to find, and then they were on the wings, to take them off the winds is kind of worrisome cause it feels like they’re going to snap. In the figure it worse, as you pose the figure, the skirt stays in one position and if you want to move, they feel like it’s going to snap as well. Just take extra precaution when dealing with the figure.

Overall this figure is great, maybe it was the lack of a fan base for the figure, but the figure has great points that a true saint seiya collector will enjoy. It also has some flaws that you may have to look into for your own collection purposes. Overall this figure is great and deserves your attention.
